Brian In Realife

Today I thought I'd talk a bit about another blog.  My hubby's blog to be exact.  Yes.  We now have two bloggers in the family.  However, he actually enjoy's writing.  I on the other hand, enjoy posting pictures with a side of words;)  (Badum-Ching!  That was my best drum noise.  Give me credit I tried.)  If you know me, you know that my husband, Brian is a youth pastor.  In fact that is why we moved here to PA about nine months ago.  We love youth and believe this generation is awesome!!!  So, if you want to check out his blog and read what's on his heart, please do so!  You can go to http://briansrealifejourney.blogspot.com/ and tell him Evie sent you:)

I couldn't help but post a picture.  I snapped this one last week when we were at our son's track and field day at school.  Some people are just too cool for school;)

Dubble Bubble and Piccadilly Circus

Hope everyone had a wonderful Resurrection Sunday yesterday!  I actually have a funny story to tell ya.  Both kids and I were headed to church yesterday and were running a bit behind.  Hayden (my son) said that he had gum on his face.  I told him that we didn't have time to even stop by the bathrooms, so he needed to get it off while he was in the car.  I turned back to look at him and I could literally feel my blood pressure go up.  He had gum on his face up to his eyeballs!  Turns out he blew one huge Dubble Bubble bubble and Jael (my daughter) decided it needed to be popped.  We ended up in my husbands office (he's a pastor) picking it off almost the entire time at church.  After I cooled down (I blame crazy preggo hormones) and Hayden stopped crying I told him it wasn't a big deal that I was pretty sure Jesus was laughing too:)  It's good to know God looks at your heart and not your face;)  Lesson learned...literally.

Earlier that weekend we had tickets to a local circus, the Piccadilly Circus.  Both of our kids were pumped to go.  We have never gone before so I couldn't help but be excited too.  I decided I should try and bring my camera.  I made my kids take one picture with me:)  Note to self: to not look pregnant, simply place child in front of belly:)

My kids loved the first act with the bikes in the cage.  At the
end, they put a girl inside!  Eeek

My daughter, Jael thought My Little Pony's came to life!

Some clowns came out and did some funny dancing.  Luckily for me
I was slap happy all night.  When this clown came out my husband leaned over and said,
"It's like watching Michael Jackson in slow motion."  I about died of laughter for the
next ten minutes.

Happy Monday!!!  Evie

Gates BBQ Sauce. Need I say more?

Today I'm not going to worry about the fact that we need a new engine in our Jeep.  Or that I now have a double chin from this pregnancy.  Or that I have no work here in Pennsylvania.  No worries today!:)  I brought back two bottles of Kansas City glory that I plan on enjoying.  Hope you all have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend! Thanks Brian!

I just wanted to take a minute and write a post to my hubby and say a big THANK YOU for all your help with my blog and website!!!  Thanks to Brian, I now have a "Pin It" button for all you Pinterest peeps out there:)

This was taken about a week ago at Moody Park in Fairview Heights, Illinois on our drive back home from KC to PA.  I was able to meet up with two of my sisters, Amy and Leah.  We only had about 1 1/2 hours to hang out, but I'll take what I can get:)  I did get one shot of all the cousins together.  However, my kids (on the left and right) refuse to pose normal;)  Evie

REDNECKS

After living here almost seven months we finally decided to get a landline, internet and cable!!!  Gone are my Amish days:)  Yesterday my kids, Hayden and Jael were glued to SpongeBob on Nick.  And I have to admit, I was on Facebook way too much catching up.  I decided to try out our new line and call my sister, Amy. (Thanks for the picture, Amy!) She would not stop laughing when we talked because she said her caller ID came up as "Rednecks" when I called.  My question is, how did Comcast know we were from Missouri?!:)  Now I have to decide if I should call and complain.  I don't mind because really, it's pretty funny.  Hope your weekend is awesome!  I'm headed to IKEA to pick out Caleb's crib.  That's right!!!  My son has a name:0)  Evie

It's a boy!

Is winter over yet?!  I can’t express how much I LOATHE winter every year.  Not only does my photography work slow down to a grueling pace of nothingness but my soul desperately needs sunshine that the winter does not provide.  Especially here in Pittsburgh.  In fact I’m just about 100% certain the weather here is bipolar.  But more on PA later;)

OK, so I’m back!  I never blog in the winter but now that spring is about to be upon us, I’ll be back to blogging again.  My one reader (Hi Mom!) will be pleasedJ  It seems like so much has happened since my last blog post.  Which if you haven’t read is all about my HUGE, GIGANTIC, surprise pregnancy with baby numero tres.  Turns out even all the protection in the world won’t stop God from getting His will done;)  Sorry for the lame pastor’s wife humor there.

As of tomorrow I will be 22 weeks pregnant.  Over half way there!  But, to catch you up on a few photos, here’s me at 16 weeks……

And here’s baby  #3  saying hiJ  And by the way it’s a BOY!!!!!  Any names are more than welcomed.  My hubby and I are so not agreeing on any names at all at this point.  But let’s face it, I push the kid out so I should get at least 60% voting rights on the name, right?  And all the women say, “Amen.”

My one fear with this pregnancy is that I did not want to gain a bazillion pounds.  I bet you didn’t even know scales went up that high did you?   So I have been exercising about 5-6 times a week and I feel pretty darn fantastical.  (I might blog later on what my exercise program is.)  Here’s my rather large and in charge belly at 20 weeks…still rocking the yoga poses.

That’s it for now.  I hope your winter was great! And that for whoever might be reading this, hope your day is wonderfulJ  Evie

Learn From My Mistakes {frozen turkey edition}

Eleven years ago this Thanksgiving, I was a 19 year old newlywed living in Pensacola, Fl with my new hubby, Brian.  We were so excited to have our first Thanksgiving together.  I wanted everything to be perfect.  I bought the biggest turkey we could afford.  However, my teenager brain didn't realize it took DAYS to defrost a turkey.  I put it in the fridge the day before Turkey Day thinking that was enough time.  Once it dawned on me it wasn't enough time I started to panic.  Literally, during the night  got up and prayed over my turkey to defrost faster.  Did I mention I went to Bible school? :) Anywhooo, by the morning it was frozen.  Solid.  As in no way Jose is this turkey going to be in the oven soon.  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with lasagna:)  We cooked the turkey a few days later and it was yummy.  So, if your a young newlywed, learn from my mistake....DEFROST YOUR TURKEY NOW:)  Evie

I'm moving!

This post is way overdue.  Last week was kinda insane just getting the kids back in school.  Gearing up to home school Jael in kindergarten.  Wrapping up my last sessions here and oh yeah, packing my house:)  My husband received a job offer in the Pittsburgh, PA area.  We are really excited to see what adventures lie ahead of us.

If you're in PA give me a shout out on my fan page on Facebook!  My link still (grrr) wont work here on my blog, but look me up at EviePhotography on FB.

I have a maternity session tomorrow with a previous bride and groom.  Can I just say I LOVE my clients:)

And because all blog posts are WAY lame without images, here's a few that has nothing to do with this post:) Evie

Back On.

Yesterday I talked to my sister, and she was telling me she was sick of going to my blog and reading, "Green Bean or String Bean?" so I thought it was time to blog on something.  I've been taking a break from my camera and I have to admit, it's been hard, but I've been enjoying spending the summer with my family.  They literally moan when I bring my camera along on outings, so it's been tucked away in my Kelly Moore bag patiently awaiting to be turned back on.

So, I grabbed Jael (my daughter) and her new glasses and got to work.  Well, that is for about three minutes.  That's all the time she gave me.  Seriously, she quoted me three minutes of shoot time for one bite of ice cream.  Kids these days.

She's now ready for kindergarten!  I can hardly believe it.  Hope your summer is going great!  I'm about to head to Kansas City, then St.Louis, then Nashville, then back to KC to shoot a wedding.  I should have LOTS to blog on by mid July.  Talk to ya soon! Evie:)

Code LLXOS

There's moments in life that I really have the thought run through my mind that I need to have like 20 more kids.  Because really, honestly, my kids melt my heart.  I caught Jael having a tea party under a tent with her new birthday bunny.  I ran like a wild woman to my room, grabbed my camera and threw a lens on.
She was more than happy to let me in the tent...well, I take that back.  I had to enter a code into her piece
of paper that looked like a keypad:)  I think the code was, "LLXOS."
She wasn't too happy though once she saw my camera.

Hope your day is going well!  Take a picture of your kid(s) today.  I promise
you'll appreciate it years from now:) Evie

My heart goes out...

My heart goes out to everyone in Joplin, MO this morning.  So much was lost last night in the storm.  Please be praying for them.
We came home last night from being out of town and not much time went by (about an hour) when the tornado sirens started to go off.  They rang for what seemed like a good 45 minutes.  We are a little over an hour away from Joplin.  The storm ended up being just south of us.  We had some crazy weather after the sirens stopped.  We couldn't help but go outside beause there was a HUGE double rainbow behind us, crazy lightning to the left of us and crazy red/orange skies to the right of us.  These are unedited, here's what it looked like...

Again, please be praying for the people of Joplin.  There's still so many people missing.  Evie

350 Degrees

I've had one of those mornings when nothing is going right.  I'm sure you've been there before.  And when I become on the fritz, I like to bake.  To just sift, stir, and bake my troubles away at 350 degrees:)  It seems to help no matter if it's SO wrong to eat because I'm on a diet:(   Evie

Girl DNA

Is it possible to go shopping for summer shorts and walk out with a "few" boxes of shoes instead?  Yum, you bet ya;)  I can't be the only one this has happened to.  I blame my girl DNA.  Evie

My New Specs

I finally made an appointment to get my eyes checked out.  It had been years since I'd seen an eye doctor.  Since fourth grade to be exact;)  I ended up picking this pair out....
I really only have to wear them when I edit.  Which is great news for Brian because he does NOT like me in them.  I keep telling him I look smarter, but he disagrees with me.  Not that that should surprise me, because we disagree most days, but lets just say, I know I'm right;)  See for yourself, I look smart, right?
Well, if you said, "yes" go ahead and take back your answer bcause let's face it....
I'm just the same old silly Evie with or without glasses....
Hope your Wednesday is great! Evie:)

Pigs Can Fly

I woke up this morning to a cold and wet rainy day.  I hate rainy days.  Give me sunshine every day and I'll be good to go:)  Oh, and did I forget to mention I slept in and didn't go running?  Ugh.  Not feeling very motivated that's for sure.  I walked to the kitchen to get my first cup of coffee when I noticed something.  My little pig with wings.  I bought this little piggie about a year ago at Pier 1 imports.  As soon as I saw it I knew it was meant to be mine.  Yes, a little glass piggie:)  It symbolized me and my love of photography most of all but other things as well.  I've had a lot of challenges of getting my business started.  I had no money, not alot of experience (I've only taken HS photography classes) two small kids and no confidence.  Not a great start, right?  But you gotta start somewhere.  About three years ago, I was at a Wednesday night service at my church and the pastor speaking that night talked about dreams and goals for the new year.  One of the goals he (Pastor Barry) spoke about was not being afraid to tell people your dreams.  I sat there with tears in my eyes because the idea of telling people my hearts desire to take photographs ran so deep, yet I had nothing to back me up.  Meaning all I had was a lame Vivitar point and shoot 5MP camera.  Fuzzy pictures of my kids at best.  Yet, little by little I put myself out there.  I asked quite a few people to pose for me with my little camera and I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT.  My husband was kind enough to help me buy a decent camera about a year and a half ago.  Since then, I've meet such cool people and have been blessed with jobs.  Jobs that actually pay me to use my camera!  How cool is that?!  Pigs can fly!  Now I have an even better camera, even better lenses and I know I'm gonna fly higher and farther.  But, this post is not all about me...Although I know it sounds like it;)  I want YOU to know, YOU can fly too!  Start with telling people your dreams.  Open up your heart, and use your talents.  I promise it will be tough, but I also promise you'll feel alive:)  Hope you have a great day...Evie:)
