I Dig It {AAA}

  Welcome to another "I Dig It" post!  This is where I tell you about things apparently I dig:)  I promised Mike from Penn's Towing Inc. I would blog about him saving the night, so here it goes.  My last wedding in KC was long like usual and being preggo my feet were hurtin' for certain and I was hungry by the time we left the reception.  My brother, Phil (my second shooter) and I walked back to his car that was parked somewhere in Westport.  He put the keys in and nothing.  Nada.  Zilch.  The battery was dead.  However, the previous week I had asked my husband to join AAA to make sure my butt was covered to get me to the wedding.  Because you just never know:)  So, I told Phil to not worry, I had brought two important cards with me in my Kelly Moore camera bag.  My drivers license and my new golden, perfect, save the day, AAA card!  Dun, dun, dun!!!  I grabbed my cell and called and literally about EIGHT minutes later, Mike from Penn's Towing was giving us a jump.  I'm pretty sure I told Mike he was a baby angel.  By the time we were driving off the lot I was sold on AAA.  I DIG IT!!!  Evie

I Dig It: Stacker Mallows

  Now that school is out, it's officially s'more season in the Smith home:)  Last time I went shopping there seemed to be SO many different kinds of marshmallows to choose from.  How's a girl to decide?!  Drizzled chocolate, toasted coconut, or HUGE campfire mallows?!  Then I saw these poor, sad, deflated mallows.  Once I realized they were the underdog marshmallows, I know they belonged in my cart:)  As luck would have it, these tasty flat treats are pretty perfect for double stacking on s'mores.  You'll thank me later!  Evie

I Dig It: Forever 21

  Now normally when I go to the mall I love going into Forever 21.  However it's a constant reminder I am no longer 21.  I'm 30.  And I'm ok with that.  But I've decided instead of pulling muscles when trying on a article of clothing in which I'm really not even for sure if it's a dress or a shirt, I really just need to stick to the cheap jewelry when I'm there.  I was shopping with a friend (Hi Lisha) and she noticed a camera necklace.  As luck would have it, I only have small camera necklaces.  This one was way different, and CHEAP:)  Anywhoo, thought I'd share my newest favoritest piecest of jewelry:)  Although I have to say it looks small in the picture.  Don't you hate it when that happens?  Evie

I Dig It: Glass Knobs

  For some reason I'm starting to go gaga over anything pretty and glass.  I needed some new knobs for an antique wash basin stand (I really don't know what to call it:))my Mom and Dad gave me.  I loved the shape and size of it, however I knew I'd love it more in white.  I felt kinda guilty painting an antique, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do;)  So, Jael helped me by painting her name on the back.  The table was turned upside down so I could paint the bottom of the legs and Jael painted her name and "number" as she calls it.  She had just learned how to spell her name so it's incorrect which makes me love it more.

I Dig It: Whole Foods Berry Chantilly Cake

   Yummmm, just looking at the picture makes me wish I could head back up to KC and run into Whole Foods and grab a cake.  This is by far THE best cake I've EVER TASTED!!!  I'm normally a chocolate fan, but hands down, this cake has won me over time and time again.  It's pretty much the cream of the crop;) I'm too cheap to buy one, so I wait for my sister, Mollie to buy it and bring one over to my parents house..lol.  Then, I tell myself it has fruit so it MUST be good for you:)  I was even thinking this would make a beautiful wedding cake. 

And Whole Foods has awesome cupcakes!  My kids LOVE them.  They are always so pretty.  You will want to take their picture before you eat them;) And no, this is not my kid....it's my kid brother who just woke up:)

So, if you are in need of something sweet and a little out of the ordinary, I totally think you will dig it too:) Evie

I Dig It: Veggie Cans

  Happy Wednesday guys:)  My kids are bouncing off the walls to go for a morning walk so I'm gonna try to type as fast as I can:)  This week, I'm trying to get my little home office more organized, and more pretty:)  Cause I'm a girl, that's why;)  So, me being me, I decided to save some money and make my own pencil holders.  I remembered my son, Hayden came home from school last year with this adorable pencil holder he made so I thought I'd try it.  So, with that being said, here's all you need.....
*Cans, glue gun/glue sticks, fabric, buttons/ribbons/etc.

So, get to work and e-mail me your pretty pencil holders.  I'd love to post some shots!!!

AND, speaking of saving money, remember Chris from CM Design & Upholstery?  Well, I sent him a picture of a chair my Mom gave me.

Love the chair, HATE the fabric.  So, I bought $6 worth of fabric and the next time I headed up to KC, made an appt. to see Chris.  Gave him my chair, and a check;) and he gave me this...

I love it!  He did an awesome job:)  It's going to be one of my prop chairs for Engagements/Bridal session.  Can't wait to use it.

I Dig It:) Sugar

  Happy Thursday:)  I wanted to share a small skin tip for all my future awesome clients:)  It's SUGAR!  I know it's super important to have clear beautiful skin for your pictures.  I do my part in Photoshop to help, but there's a few things you can do too:)  Here's what I suggest.  First, get a good night sleep the night before.  Second, drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin.  Thirdly, add some simple white sugar to your face cleanser!  It's cheap and more than likely you have it in your house already.  It's a great way to exfoliate all that dead skin.  That way you have smooth radiant skin for the shoot.  Oh, and please don't forget, don't wear sunglasses 30 minutes before the session.  Trust me, you don't want funny lines on your face;)  Hope this helps someone out there:) Have a great day-Evie

I Dig It: My hubby's work

  Happy Monday!  This past weekend I asked my husband, Brian to take a few pics of me.  If I remember correctly, he groaned and then said no.  hahah  He said I was too picky.  Well, maybe I am.  I told him to just keep snapping away.  He took about 50 images and I liked about 2.  Thought I'd post one.  It's amazing what you can do in Photoshop;)  I'm about to head out the door and shoot a bridal portrait.  Wish me luck! I Dig It:) Cork Boards

Well, truth be told I don't have much to write today. Maybe because I haven't had my coffee yet. Maybe because I can't think of a way to tie in my picture with a story. Or maybe because Jael is waiting on me to watch "March of the Peguins." So, I will keep it simple because I'm a simple lady. I like my simple life. I like order. You can see this by my picture of my jewelry. I move a lot. So, I need simplicity. I have found cork boards can be a girls bestfriend. I'm sure I have way too many in my house. They keep me organized, and for that reason I love them. This one hangs in my closet. It reminds me of what pieces I do own. And plus, come on....it looks cool. I Dig It:) The Skinny Cow

I wasn't going to blog today, but my older sister, Amy and I have been having a conversation on Facebook since last night about Skinny Cow.  If you haven't had one before, behold, verily I speak the truth unto you and say....GO EAT A SKINNY COW and thank me later:)  I love ice cream way too much.  Just ask my husband. I could easily eat a whole half gallon tub of rocky road without thinking twice.  Sad, but true.  Strange also because I hate milk.  Anywhooo, I got stuck on these Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches because they taste great and only have 1.5 grams of fat, 3 grams of fiber and 140 calories.  OK, that's all I'm saying:)  See, Amy...it's been brought!!!  hahaha

I Dig It:) Crayola Maker

                  HAPPY 38th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY TO MY PARENTS!!!!!!!!:)

Good morning:)  Today I'm starting a new label called, "I Dig It."  This will be posts about things I totally dig and want to tell you about!  Yesterday was our first snow day and so we had oodles of time to kill.  We broke out the Crayola Maker that I bought for the kids (secretly I just wanted for myself;)  You know you do it too....don't lie:)  It's like this little crayola maker factory.  You take your old broken crayons, melt them and make new swirl ones.  It's a great way to show your kids it's fun to recycle.  So, being as I don't have photo shoots this winter, thought I'd snap some shots and show you this little factory.

First you place the broken crayons on the metal trays....


Then you shut the lid, turn the knob and they start to melt. Hope you can see it ok, the lid goes on lock-down so it was hard to shoot....


Then you pour into crayon mold like so and....


Wala....new ones. We made girly ones for Jael:)


And boy ones for Hayden. He made enough to give each classmate two. He's such a sweetie:)


OK, you know how I complained yesterday because it was 7 degrees out?  Well, today it's 0 degrees out.  It's our second snow day and the kids are turning into monkey's.  Too much energy for this small house.  So, if I don't post tomorrow it's because they tied me up from lack of things to do;)  HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!
